Thomas Hearne

Thomas Hearne has been advising, consulting, and mentoring growing organizations for nearly 25 years. He managed the health care banking business of Smith Barney & Co. and then Prudential Securities in the late 1980’s and 1990’s before turning to coaching and leadership development.

As an investment banker and adviser, Tom’s clients included dozens of growing health care and technology companies. His transactional experience ranged from private placements to initial public offerings to mergers, acquisitions and financial advisory assignments. Health care clients included: Mediplex, Orthodontic Centers of America, Oxford Health Plans, Value Health, Marsam Pharmaceuticals, and Pathogenesis. Technology clients included: Compaq Computer, Marquette Electronics, Danek Group and Conceptis Technologies. Though some went on to become well-known among investors, each of these were clients at in early, high growth stages of development.

Tom is also an experienced entrepreneur: he was a founder and CEO of a medical company developing a new imaging technology. Founding Heron Coaching in 2004, Tom refocused his broad experience as mentor and financial adviser in order to address the significant need for coaching among senior executives in high growth environments.

Tom is a Certified Empowerment Coach, as recognized by the International Coaching Federation and is Certified by Genos® for Emotional Intelligence Assessment.

With wisdom and humor, Tom served as a coach to help me adapt my leadership skills to growth and transition within the organization in which I work.  He helped clarify the core values that now guide my life decisions and challenged me to find a better balance between work and rest.  After six months of weekly sessions with Tom, I am ready to claim my place and purpose in the world with deep joy and gratitude.  -H.A.
